From May 2013, the following changes were made to the crime categories:
I) The violent crime category was renamed "violence and sexual offences"
2) A new category for "bicycle theft" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
3) A new category for "theft from the person" was created which previously fell within "other theft"
4) Public disorder and weapons were then split into two new categories; "public order" and "possession of weapons"
5) Both "other firearms offences" and "other knives offences" which were in "other crime" were moved into "possession of weapons".

This area includes Buckland, Milber and College Ward. It is mainly urban, but being on the edge of Newton Abbot does include the rural area of Netherton. The population is very varied and houses a variety of agricultural, industrial and commercial enterprises.

Many of the areas employers are based at Brunel Industrial Estate. It is also the location of Teignbridge District Council and Old Forde House, a Grade 1 listed building, which provides facilities suitable for a wide range of events. Milber Industrial Estate also provides a wide variety of employment and nearby area Centrax Limited who specialise in power generation and turbine components.

The main local community issues are criminal damage, anti-social behaviour and speeding vehicles. This is a safe area in which to live and incidents of serious crime are very low indeed. We can do more to improve the quality of life here. That is why it is so important to tell us of issues surrounding your local area, which affect your lives.
