In September 2011, Other Crime was divided into 6 categories - Drugs, Public Disorder & Weapons (PD&W), Criminal Damage & Arson (CD&A), Theft - Shoplifting, Theft-Other and Other. In order to avoid confusion, UKCrimeStats has renamed the original "Other" category as "Other Total" which is the sum of these 6 and this is what is displayed from December 2010 to August 2011

The Trescobeas and Boslowick wards range from Sainsburys in Falmouth to the boundry of Maenporth beach. The area has a high population consisting of private housing, private renting through Carrick District Council, Carrick Housing and two social housing landlords, namely Sanctuary and Westcountry Housing. We have a close working relationship with them all and deal with many issues which involve their tennants. The area has four schools which are Falmouth Community, St Marys, St Francis and Marlborough. Frequent visits are made to these establishments, working with the children to make them aware of how their actions can and sometimes does affect the community they live in. Retail shops are few and far between with only a couple in each area, but we have a substantial industrial estate named Tregoniggie, just off Bicklandwater Road. We hold two police/community surgeries each month one at Sainbury's Cafe and one at Boslowick Post Office. This is a fantastic chance to meet both your local police neighbourhood officers and tell them any concerns you may have or just to introduce yourself.

We are still looking for further volunteers to join us in carrying out Community Speed Watch. If you would like to work with your local neighbourhood officers in preventing those motorists who feel the need to speed and pay no attention to the local speed limits please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Anybody who wants to be involved can call our desk number 01326 213416 for more details. Finally, without your help and assistance we could not carry out our roles to their full potential, please contact any of the team with any piece of information you feel would be relevant to us, no matter how small you may feel it is. You can either call us on the above number or click on the "Contact Us" link above.

On Police Stations and Crime

Mar 25th 2013:  An insightful piece by London Mayor Boris Johnson today and he summed up very well the issue of how useful Police buildings and stations are in fighting crime; Police buildings do not make arrests. They do not lumber down the street in pursuit of criminals. They do not observe crime, and according to most criminologists there is no real evidence that they even deter crime – not just by sitting there as an inanimate structure of bricks and mortar. Crime is not fought by buildings, but by ...  Continue reading
