In September 2011, Other Crime was divided into 6 categories - Drugs, Public Disorder & Weapons (PD&W), Criminal Damage & Arson (CD&A), Theft - Shoplifting, Theft-Other and Other. In order to avoid confusion, UKCrimeStats has renamed the original "Other" category as "Other Total" which is the sum of these 6 and this is what is displayed from December 2010 to August 2011

However, we are aware of certain deficiencies in this data which are beyond our control. That's because as a 3rd party developer, we do not collect the data, the Police do who then hand it over to another data company to release to 3rd party developers such as ourselves. Ham is largely residential in nature to the south and is adjoined by Ham Woods, a large tract of public open space, in the northern half of the area. The population is varied with many younger families living in the area alongside a significant retired population.
Ham is further broken down into two distinct compartments, Ham and Lower Ham. Each has its own local convenience store although Ham benefits from a number of additional shops and licensed premises along Ham Green. Weston Mill cemetery lies in the south-west corner of the area.
The Ham neighbourhood team is made up of myself PC Benwell and PCSOs Bruty and Ryland. It is one of four neighbourhood teams supervised by Sergeant Gliddon and we are based at the police station on Beacon Park Road.

Ham is a safe place to live with the likelihood of being a victim of crime being well below the national average. Incidents of serious crime are very low indeed.
The area does have a tendency to suffer from antisocial behaviour from time to time which is often concentrated on Ham Playing Fields and in Ham Woods nearby. The main problems are spontaneous incidents of vandalism and the illegal and inconsiderate use of motorcycles.
Although actual crime is comparatively low there is an identified problem that the fear of crime held by some residents is often disproportionately much higher. We will do our best to target these and any other issues you raise with us.

On Police Stations and Crime
Mar 25th 2013: An insightful piece by London Mayor Boris Johnson today and he summed up very well the issue of how useful Police buildings and stations are in fighting crime; Police buildings do not make arrests. They do not lumber down the street in pursuit of criminals. They do not observe crime, and according to most criminologists there is no real evidence that they even deter crime – not just by sitting there as an inanimate structure of bricks and mortar. Crime is not fought by buildings, but by ... Continue reading
