CURRENT NEIGHBOURHOOD PRIORITIES:

There are no current neighbourhood priorities for our area which have been set by our panels.
Although we are experiencing Anti-social behaviour in the area of Rectory Road/The Featherworks and Fishtoft Road so this is one of our team priorities at the moment.

Boston is situated near the southeast coast of Lincolnshire, where the River Witham becomes the Haven on its short journey to The Wash. The Boston Town East beat covers the beat code of NC30 and incorporates three wards, North, Witham and Skirbeck.

95.90% of the Beat Population within the area are White British. One of the beat areas of NC30 has the most diverse ethnic make up in the Boston Borough Council area, with a high number of White Other, Asian, Black African and Chinese communities. The high number of White Other members of the community may be due to the additional membership of the EU and the subsequent influx of migrant workers in recent years. Nationalities tend to be eastern European, Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian.

77% of the population are economically active - employment is on a majority, unskilled land work with the major employers being the gang masters who run the local employment agencies. There are no real vulnerable groups within the East side of Boston.

There are a total of 5434 houses in the beat area. Social housing is greatest in CD09 (30%) than in CD11 (9%). There are two secondary schools – Boston High School and Haven High, Tollfield Campus and numerous primary schools, and five local shops throughout both beat codes, all of whom are NPT KINs. There are several retirement complexes and the population within the area is made up of people of all ages.

Officers covering the Town East area work from Boston Police Station.

They do not lumber down the street in pursuit of criminals. They do not observe crime, and according to most criminologists there is no real evidence that they even deter crime – not just by sitting there as an inanimate structure of bricks and mortar. Crime is not fought by buildings, but by ...  Continue reading
