In September 2011, Other Crime was divided into 6 categories - Drugs, Public Disorder & Weapons (PD&W), Criminal Damage & Arson (CD&A), Theft - Shoplifting, Theft-Other and Other. The Economic Policy Centre www.economicpolicycentre.com has made every effort in order to ensure that the data for UkCrimeStats is accurate and up to date. However, we are aware of certain deficiencies in this data which are beyond our control. That's because as a 3rd party developer, we do not collect the data, the Police do who then hand it over to another data company to release to 3rd party developers such as ourselves. Newcastle East Sector covers 9 Council Wards in the east and north-east of Newcastle, stretching from the east of the City Centre and the Ouseburn, along the River Tyne to the boundary with North Tyneside. The whole area is densely populated with a large proportion of social housing along the riverbank linked to its industrial heritage. Neighbourhoods around Jesmond and parts of Heaton are affluent, and a large proportion of homes near to the City Centre are popular with the student community. Included in the sector is Clifford Street Police Station, and a number of notable features, including the substantial Government buildings housing the DWP and HMRC at Longbenton, Freeman Hospital, major retail streets at Shields Road and Chillingham Road, and a vibrant night time economy on Osborne Road and the Ouseburn valley; the river running through Jesmond Dene.
