Burton Joyce is a large village that is situated on the outskirts of Nottingham. The village is placed firmly on the A612; this main arterial route bisects the village. The A612 runs from Southwell through to Nottingham and encompasses a number of small villages along its route. The River Trent is the southern border of the village and the natural high ground between Burton Joyce and Lambley is the northern border. The village centre on Main Street has a small shopping area. Within the area there is a primary school situated on Padleys Lane and three public houses.
Stoke Bardolph is a rural hamlet which is relatively isolated. The village is geographically situated between the River Trent and the A612. The A612 is a main road that runs from Southwell through to Nottingham. The area surrounding the village is used extensively for farming, with a large sewage works and a meat processing plant situated off Stoke Lane, Stoke Bardolph. The village has a licensed social club and a church. There is one public house, The Ferry Boat, which is a popular summer attraction. The pub is situated next to the River Trent down river from Stoke Lock.
Lambley is a quiet rural village. The village is situated on the main road that runs between the A6097 at Lowdham and the B684 Plains Road Mapperley. The main road through the village is a busy commuter route between the above-mentioned roads. Geographically, the village of Lambley sits in the Lambley Dumble, between the village of Woodborough and Burton Joyce. The village has an infant/primary school and three public houses within the confines of the area.
