{"id":63,"date":"2011-06-23T06:17:14","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T06:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ukcrimestats.com\/blog\/?p=63"},"modified":"2011-06-23T06:17:14","modified_gmt":"2011-06-23T06:17:14","slug":"leeds-to-combat-high-burglary-rate-track-results-on-ukcrimestats-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ukcrimestats.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/23\/leeds-to-combat-high-burglary-rate-track-results-on-ukcrimestats-com\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Leeds to combat high burglary rate&#8221; . . . track results on ukcrimestats.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was interested to learn from the BBC that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-leeds-13875425\">Leeds City Council are to spend &pound;1.3m over four years<\/a> to reduce the number of burglaries.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve just run a report on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukcrimestats.com\/Neighbourhoods\/\">Neighbourhoods page<\/a> across all of England and Wales, between December 2010 and April 2011 and it&#8217;s true there&#8217;s a serious problem &#8211; the top 3 worst neighbourhoods (by total) for burglary are in Leeds. These are;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukcrimestats.com\/Neighbourhood\/West_Yorkshire_Police\/North_West_Leeds_-_North_West_Inner\">North West Leeds &#8211; North West Inner<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukcrimestats.com\/Neighbourhood\/West_Yorkshire_Police\/North_West_Leeds_-_West_Outer\">North West Leeds &#8211; West Outer<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukcrimestats.com\/Neighbourhood\/West_Yorkshire_Police\/North_West_Leeds_-_West_Inner\">North West Leeds &#8211; West Inner<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting one of the measures cited to combat burglary was spending on increased visibility. The other day, I was talking to a fellow policy wonk about a paper called &#8220;Designing out crime&#8221; a think tank paper that came out maybe about 30 years ago. Now of course, every English language police force seems to use the phrase so it&#8217;s buried.
