In September 2011, Other Crime was divided into 6 categories - Drugs, Public Disorder & Weapons (PD&W), Criminal Damage & Arson (CD&A), Theft - Shoplifting, Theft-Other and Other. In order to avoid confusion, UKCrimeStats has renamed the original "Other" category as "Other Total" which is the sum of these 6 and this is what is displayed from December 2010 to August 2011

Bishopston ward encompasses the top half of the Gloucester Road corridor and Ashley Down Road and mainly consists of retail and licensed premises on the Gloucester Road and residential premises in Ashley Down.

The beat encompasses HMP Bristol, one infant school, one junior school, two primary schools and the City of Bristol College.

The main challenge for police on this ward is monitoring and control of licensed premises and liaising with Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators, Local Action Teams and the community in the Ashley Down area with regard to burglaries and theft of and from vehicles.

The nearest police stations are shown below. The station providing policing for this beat is Redland Police Station, Lower Redland Road, Bristol.
