The 3 immutables of crime concentration – location, people, time

I keep thinking about this article in City Journal from late last year – Concentrating on Crime.  It eloquently drives home the feature of most crimes is that they very often occur in the same places, with violent crime perpetrated by many of the same people and that they tend to happen at the same times – whether by hour, days of the week or season. I don’t want to summarise it, much better to read the whole article. But it has left me wondering if we have done enough since the release of open crime data over 10 years ago to focus and reduce the hotspots of crime across the country?
