Energy consumption a good indicator of population change

Next year, the UK will be having its every 10 years census. In America, it’s this year. We know quite a lot has changed – there are an estimated 5 million more people in the UK than in 2010 according to the Office for National Statistics – nearly 10% more. But trying to estimate exactly where and in what quantity the population increase has been by year since 2010 is very difficult. That’s one of the reasons why we carry energy consumption data by year from 2010 to 2018 for gas and electricity across all the shapes. You can even see the number of electricity and gas meters by year in each area. With a login, you can track where the greatest increase/decrease between different years or just the highest and lowest consumption was.
